Johnson, Erin Corine

Erin “Marisol” Corine Johnson is a multi-genre flutist, bilingual vocalist and music educator native of Chicago, Illinois, where she has built upon a lifetime passion for music through the influence of her largely Southern-born, African-American family. Holding a bachelor’s degree from the prestigious University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign School of Music and master’s degree from Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain, she contributes a dynamic vision for musical revival, fusion and creation surrounding Afro- American, Afro-European and Afro-Latin music. Always bringing to the stage stories and themes rooted in history and traditional world cultures, her work as a performer represent a smooth, contemplated mixture of her roots in classic soul, funk, traditional gospel, delta blues combined with influences taken from Spanish Flamenco, Afro-Caribbean folklore and various traditional and popular music styles from South America. 

 

Erin “Marisol” Corine Johnson es flautista multi-género, cantante bilingüe y profesora de música nativa de Chicago, donde a través de su familia Afro-estadounidense sureña y desde muy niña, empezó a sentir la pasión por la música. Licenciada en las prestigiosas Univeridad de Illinois Urbana-Champaign y Berklee College of Music en Valencia y con una mezcla de estudios clásicos y contemporáneos, aporta una visión única de la música Afro-Americana, Afro-Europea y Afro Latina. Siempre contando historias de las culturas y la gran influencia que llevan en su vida artística, ella mezcla con naturalidad sus raíces en la música soul, funk, góspel tradicional, delta blues y jazz junto a ritmos y melodías de la música flamenca, folklórica afro-caribeña y sudamericana tradicional con la naturalidad de alguien que habla en su idioma materno.
